SUBMISSION GUIDE
Each review must follow these guidelines:
- Beer Name
- Brewery
- Strength/stats (ABV, gravity, etc)
- Type of beer (dark/light ale, stout, blonde, bitter, lager, abbey, steam etc)
- Tasting notes
- GDBS Score (marks out of 11)
THE GDBS SCORE
The GDBS (Grover-Debenham Beer Scale) score of a beer lies in many areas. We award points based on (but not limited to) these factors:
- Flavour
- Enjoyability
- Uniqueness
- Special features (is it made specially, to improve enjoyability)
- Appearance
- Memorability
The scale goes from 1 to 11 - reason being, a 10 out of 10 beer might not still have that special thing that makes it amazing, so the 11th point is for beers that not only score 10 out of 10 but also fill us with joy and satisfaction.
THE STORY OF THE BEER
The Story of the Beer is as important as the drinking of the beer itself so where we can, we will try to post information about the beers that make the beer we try more significant and interesting. Sometimes it might be as simple as it has been brewed in an interesting or special manner, sometimes it might be down to the nature of the ingredients used. Often it's a story of the person who made it and how they conceived the beer at the beer's very beginning. Craft beers have some fantastic back stories, so we shall do our best to provide the story so you can enjoy your beer safe in the knowledge that it has a rich and verifiable history!
